This stone has no military connection but it is such a well known landmark in the area,
that I thought there would be no harm in including it.

It sits in the section of Cadder Cemetery adjacent to the A803, Kirkintilloch Road
and can be cleary seen as it towers over the Cemetery's Perimeter Wall.

The posts on Archibald Henderson are very interesting.

He mobilized in Dublin in 1914 to 12th Reserve Cavalry Regiment. Does that mean he was in Dublin in Sept 1914 or was that where all 11th Hussars reservists were sent?

His wife was in Canada in 1915. When had Anderson first gone to Canada?

He also has three different occupations. Plumber when he first joined 11th Hussars. Shipping Clerk on discharge in Aldershot in 1915 and Salesman on enlistment again in Winnipeg a month later.

Why did he enlist almost immediately on arrival in Canada? Why not re-enlist in the UK.

This information throws up more questions than answers!

Regards

Adam

Ray White (Rachel), NAAFI. Cause of Death quoted on Certificate as "Fracture of Scull and cerebral contusion and laceration due to a collision between her motor car and a Military Motor Lorry accident".

Hence no CWGC Cert.

Initials R.W.S. following name = Restaurant and Welfare Superintendent
