According to CWGC there are 2 WWI graves within this cemetery, so I decided to have a wonder round when I was in North Berwick this week. I found 3 WWI graves, as well as some people who had been in the armed forces over the years. There are no WWII graves.

I was extremely saddened to see the state of the cemetery, many stones had been broken and/or toppled over on to their faces, and there was graffitti sprayed on the ruins of the old church. However I did read in the local paper this week (I can't find an online version) that funding had been found and with the help of some locals who are documenting the graves work is underway to repair and replace the broken stones.

The cemetery can be found on Kirk Ports in the center of North Berwick, it is the road which runs between the B1346 and the B1347. At the junction of Kirk Ports and the B1346 can be found the War Memorial.

As you can see by the scaffolding, that work already appears to have begun.

Some of the broken stones.

The graffitti

More broken and toppled stones.

This was a very old stone, which was lying on its back. The top half was unreadable, but there was a part at the bottom which I could just make out.

This Monument was repaired and enclosed by Major Buchan who died 3rd July 1855 aged 62.
