Congratulations on a Great site!

Having been a member of Ross McNeill`s RAF Commands site `Old & New` for a number of years. I am a firm believer that photos of these servicemens graves should be freely available for all to share, these people should be remembered and because it is often so difficult for relatives to visit, they should not be charged for their misfortune of living some distance away, I therefore hope to add as many pics as I can to help perpetuate their memory.

Hi Anne,

Thanks for welcoming me to the board, I have visited several cemeteries while researching for my book projects and photographed many headstones, be happy to contribute here once I have built up my 5 + 5, oh! and the highgroundsman was really just for my log in and introduction and not a necessity and I ve nothing to hide so I`ll use my Christian slang from hereon.

Best Regards.
Dave.

Hi Dave,

I think I'm correct in saying that the 5/5 rule no longer exists.

Thanks Anne,

How do I attach pics to CWGR entries on this site? When I registered I thought it would be a simple process of just clicking on an upload button,go to my docs and send, but it seems a bit more complicated that this. I have pics of almost all the graves in Lerwick,Shetland which I think will be of interest.

Regards.
Dave.

Hi Dave - welcome to the project

In outline you post your photos to any photo hosting site (e.g. photobucket) and then just post the link. Full details here http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=6

send me a PM if you need a hand.

Dave,

You won't be able to alter or add anything to any one else's posts.

Your options would be to either add posts at the end of the appropriate thread, or if you had particular info or other photos of ones already on the forum (or photos of stones that haven't been found but have been listed), you could contact any of the Moderators and they'd be delighted to amend the existing posts - crediting you with any/all additional stuff of course! Very Happy

Hi Anne/Paul

Thanks for your help, I have uploaded around 50 pics to Photobucket ready for site upload, plus I have now added one pic to Lerwick Cemetery, this is a landscape pic but all others except Lerwick War Memorial are portrait, is this size OK? or should I reduce slightly?

Oh! Forgot to say that when I said I had all those graves in Lerwick, I aplogise but what I meant to say was all RAF graves, with a few exceptions, where pilots were Navy or a few Norwegian sailors just for interest, as flyers are my main area of research. So anyone reading this, who is going that way could do all the RN graves for you. Don`t know when I`ll be back that way.

Regards.
Dave.

As a general rule, if you can get it on photobucket it's OK for this project. I usually reduce mine to 800X600 before uploading to photobucket because it makes the upload faster.

Dave
as a recent convert to posting photos, on photobucket I've found the easiest way is to select the "large size" option just under the choose files button. All images L/scape or Port. then fit - but it is slow to download.
