I have a relative ... David Grant Petrie.

David was born illegimate on 22 April 1894, 59 Crescent Street, Dundee. He was born to Jemima West Petrie. In the 1891 Census, Jemima was in Liff, Dundee - working as a Domestic Servant for the Grant family. In 1901, Jemima was working as a Laundry Maid at the Atholl Arms in Blair Atholl - David was brought up in Blairgowrie and Rattray, by his Great-Uncle and Aunt, Alexander and Annie Petrie.

David became Private 13150 in the Cameron Highlanders. He enlisted in Edinburgh during September 1914.

He died on 19 July 1916 and is buried in the Vermelles Military Cemetery in France.

I thought I could upload a photograph to commemorate him but I can find no link ... not to worry ...

Regards Heather

Hi Heather, David is commemorated on the Blairgowrie memorial posted on our sister forum at http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=53&mforum=warmemscot and this would be a better place to post any information and photo you have of him.

A guide on posting pictures is at http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=470&mforum=warmemscot

I look forwards to seeing your posting there.

Regards

Paul
